Day trading has become an epidemic among young people and it's becoming a big problem.
I recently watched an YouTube video from a young aspiring trader (about 20 yo) who's been trading for 5 years unsuccessfully. He dropped out of high school to pursue trading and is now realizing this decision may have wrecked his life.
I'm in my 40s and have been trading for about 5 years. I absolutely love trading but I gotta say it's the hardest thing I've ever done in my life (and I've done many things!). With that being said, I would NEVER recommend trading to someone younger than 25 yrs old.
Let's talk about the negative things about trading:
It completely distords one's idea of money. I mean, why work for $20 an hour if some YouTube bro is making thousands a day (spoiler alert: he's not)
It's a lonely profession. The experience that a young person acquires at a regular job are invaluable. The social connections, discipline, structure, self-esteem, etc. Not everything is about money.
The human brain doesn't reach full structural maturity until your early 30s. In my opinion young people are better off spending their developmental years doing something more fulfilling.
So, if you're young person pursuing day trading, please proceed with caution. It's a LOT harder than it looks and it should NEVER be the primary focus of your life. Don't fall for these YouTubers bros claiming to be making millions from day trading (they're all scams who never made a dime from trading).
Trading itself is NOT a scam. But it is something that takes years of effort and experience and sometimes self sacrifice to master, and young people need to be aware of that.

前额叶发育与风险控制的矛盾 正如帖主所说，大脑负责理智决策、冲动控制和长期规划的前额叶皮层（Prefrontal Cortex），通常要到25岁甚至30岁左右才完全发育成熟。 日内交易极度依赖纪律性、情绪管理和对即时满足（Instant Gratification）的克制。年轻人在生物学特征上就更容易受到多巴胺驱动去过度交易（Overtrading）、重仓赌博或扛单，在最需要冷静的领域，刚好踩中了人性最脆弱的年龄段。

交易本身不是骗局，但把交易当成逃避现实生活的避风港，往往是灾难的开始。
对于真正对市场感兴趣的年轻群体，帖主给出的建议其实非常中肯：保持敬畏，远离狂热。在没有建立起独立的人生阅历、职业技能以及稳健的资金/心理退路之前，永远不要把日内交易当作生活的唯一重心，甚至不要在极度年轻时直接全职入场。
